Spotted Greenwings are relatively small nocturnal dragons. Easily recognizable by the fleshy appendages growing off of their head and rump, they are most commonly seen in forests at night, leaping and soaring from tree to tree. While generally social, spotted greenwings are very quiet and rarely make any sort of vocalization. Their bodies are unusually warm to the touch, though they are unable to breathe fire. Greenwings are voracious feeders and will consume nearly any living thing that they can fit in their mouths.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Expectorate's most notable trait used to be that he's unable to produce fire out of his mouth. The Motley Forest Edge has plenty of fiery breeds such as pyralspites and greens who can, and they remark that it's odd that he cannot even use magic to make fire. This he found very irritating, since there are plenty of interesting things about him! He can crochet, he knows four languages, he can whistle "Fly Home Mariner"... Because he disliked being "that dragon who can't spit fire", he decided to become good at spitting something else: namely saliva. It's the only thing he has. Many months later, he became the best spitter around, able to hock up a good one and hit someone standing ten tails away on the nose. He would be the envy of everyone else if they didn't think it was kind of rude.
