Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Itachi wouldn't call himself over competitive, but if one was to say that another dragon was faster than him, one could bet that one would see him running laps around the cave, desperately training so he could be the fastest. While he will deflect any compliments, saying that he is nothing great, he secretly revels in them, and longs for more, pushing himself to his limits each and every day just so he can over hear somebody commenting on "how that Itachi is the hardest working dragon in all the clans." This competitive streak has made it hard for anyone to mate with him, as Itachi is determined to constantly outdo them, and gets extremely upset if he perceives someone else as having a better relationship than him. For all his flaws, it must be said that Itachi is an extremely thorough and skilled worker, and his spirit can often inspire his friends to push themselves harder in order to achieve more, but few can take it to the extent he does.
