Falconiform Wyverns are normally shy creatures. However, when approached, they often feel threatened, and the flames along their bodies leap higher. Females tend to be smaller than males, though Falconiform Wyverns are typically rather large overall. They use their size to their advantage by hunting smaller dragons. The Falconiform’s graceful, swooping dives are said to resemble birds of prey. Falconiforms are largely solitary dragons that only meet in order to breed.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

When she's sleeping and sometimes when she's not, Telly has visions of great expanses of water and lots of rocks and sand. The sights and smells are totally foreign to her and intrigue her. Raised by her mother and two cousins and taught that there's nothing interesting beyond their volcano, Telly has never ventured down the mountain or flown more than a few minutes out of their land, but she believes her subconscious is telling her to leave the place she's familiar with and find the location that matches her visions. She's a little too afraid to leave the only dragons she knows, and cousin Tim has raised the possibility that the strange sights aren't actually of a real location but perhaps the product of a magic user messing with her head.
