And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Whirl prefers to remain alone. It is not that she wars with the companions, no, she is a dragon of peace, and it is not that she loathes company, for she loves to talk long into the night with those she loves and trusts. But Whirl is aware of the power she holds as a Guardian of Nature, albeit only a hatchling, and fears that someone may seek to exploit her. She loathes her counterpart, Citadark, as she watches him shirk his duties to travel, wasting power she would kill to have on pointless endeavours that she does not have the wingspan to be able to travel on. Whirl firmly believes that she should have been allowed to grow into a fully-fledged dragon, not Citadark, and loathes him for all the possibilities that he has taken away from her. She has explored her powers with all the time she possesses, while Citadark has done little but cause a few dragons to alt, and prevent one small mint egg from being chucked out of the cave.
