Venturis Dragons are a peaceful breed that reside in cooler regions toward the bases of mountains where they can raise their young without the threat of predators drawing too close. They are known for their ability to sense distress, and use telepathy—coupled with a strong sense of empathy—to solve disputes. It is commonly believed that interacting with a Venturis dragon will bring a future of good fortune. They are also known as Heralds of Tranquility in olden lore. Despite their seemingly elusive nature, Venturis Dragons have often been spotted near villages torn apart by war and destruction.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

To make chores a tiny bit more palatable, Pa Wing finds ways to turn them into games or thinks of mental challenges if he can't think of a game. When writing reports, he measures sentences and tries to make the text a certain number of lines. He counts small scoops and large scoops when he feeds the guard drakes. Taking out rubbish from the tunnels and tree-spaces weekly is the dullest thing he has to do, but when every discarded item is a ball and the outdoor bins are targets, this chore is a tad more enjoyable. Wing used to complain about chores, even though everybody in the tunnel has work to do, but now, the other dragons are pleasantly surprised how little he has to say about them. He still complains about other things, such as the weather dirtying his scales and the plants indiscriminately dropping leaves and twigs. The only times he doesn't grouse is when he knows humans are nearby. For some reason, he's on his best behavior around them.
