Ochredrakes are a curious species with a wide array of mutations and interesting behaviors. Not as intelligent as normal dragons, they only breed with other drake species. While they may not be bright, ochredrakes are flamboyant and fun-loving with amazing, chirping voices to sing with, and tame readily in the presence of a gentle hand.

Though it may appear at first that dragons and drakes have much in common, the two are completely separate species. Drakes are smaller and less intelligent than their cousin species, though both dragons and drakes sit comfortably near the top of the food chain. They are always found bearing antlers and leathery wings. Drakes share many of the same habitats that dragons do, and typically hunt in packs.

His name means "Great Phoenix" in Japanese. He is the son of Tamotsu and Saika, and was raised alongside his brother Zuiho. He is very mischievous, even more so than his brother, and is often the "master-mind" behind their many schemes. He is more clever than most of the other drakes, so when he gets bored, the valley's inhabitants know to watch out for practical pranks. None of the drakes or dragons really mind though; he's so friendly that it's impossible to stay mad at him for long. When he met Kin'ai, she originally thought that he was nothing more than a goof, but Taiho proved that he is also capable of harboring a very serious and romantic love. She finally gave in and allowed him to court her. After awhile, she realized that somewhere along the way, she had fallen in love with Taiho. When he asked her to be his mate, their was no hesitation in her answer, a loving and immediate yes. They have been living a life of love together ever since.
