On sunny days when the sea is clear and sparkling, coastal villages are often treated to a spectacular sight. While normally shy, Tideweaver Lindwyrms are emboldened by fair weather, and when one starts to dance, the rest soon follow. However, their intricate fins and complex dances are more than just a dazzling show. Tideweavers rely on slight changes in their movements and fin positions to communicate with others of their kind. This communication is key; the lindwyrms are almost always found traveling within tightly bonded family groups. To show affection, they have been known to gently hold one another with their small front legs.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Sea Mither lives in the sea during the summer and works to confine a nasty demon to the ocean depths. She also performs benevolent labors, such as warming the water and making summer breezes. Each spring, she battles her archenemy, Teran, who is capable of causing awful storms and tries to control the sea and weather. She wins and sends him to the depths, but she is exhausted from this fight and her summer work. Teran returns in the fall, ousting her and causing the seas to roll, the sky to darken, and storms to stir up. In the spring, Sea Mither is refreshed and able to again fight Teran for control of the seas. Their battles every year explain seasonal ocean weather.

Well, OK, maybe most of that isn't true. Sea Mither isn't really responsible for the weather, other than localized calm seas, and she doesn't have an archenemy. But it makes a great story, and Sea Mither loves telling stories. If there's a real Sea Mither, she hopes Sea Mither doesn't mind her "stealing credit".
