Frostbite Dragons first appear at the beginning of winter, creeping in with the frosts. They have found their place in human lore as the spirits of snow, since they only reveal themselves during icy weather. In the depths of winter, they cover the world in blankets of snow and are believed to be responsible for the glittering frost that creeps over everything. Although they appear cold and distant, they are actually rather mischievous and enjoy spending time dancing through blizzards.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Meliyah is the youngest member of the hired frostbite patrol. She isn't the best at combat and is actually rather clumsy on her feet, so she puts a lot of work into looking scary so she can avoid conflict in the first place. Being a big, lumbering dragon with an icy visage helps, but those can only do so much, so there's some practice involved. She is immensely pleased when just her menacing walk causes intruders to immediately evacuate. While there's also satisfaction in causing intruders to immediately evacuate their bowels, the employers aren't so pleased when that occurs and assign Meliyah to cleanup duty after.
