Originating from a single species that thrived in ancient times, Xenowyrms have become an incredibly diverse breed whose appearances vary depending on their habitats. Each Xenowyrm subspecies is heavily reliant on the power of different types of mana, making them powerful magic users. Mageia, found exclusively in desert regions, are thought to be the wisest Xenowyrm subspecies. Due to their knowledge of the magi element, they are able to cast a variety of magics, including teleportation. Their beautiful yellow scutes are reflective and smooth like glass, making them very valuable to collectors.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Synesi Erimos is the king of all Mageia Xenowyrms that share his territory, as well as the unspoken leader of five other important Xenos: Kastano, Archaios, Efflektis, Paralia and Nefelodis. He's known them since they were all hatchlings, growing up together in ancient Valkemare. His wisdom and serenity made him the alpha of the group, though Efflektis has always stubbornly refused to acknowledge this. Synesi considers the group his family and loves them dearly despite their numerous differences. Because of this, he makes a point of calling a meeting between them at least once a year. These meetings usually occur in or around Efflektis's lair since there's no way she would participate otherwise.

Synesi's mate is a gentle and remarkably intelligent Magi named Kinisi. When he isn't reading, the Mageia can often be found tutoring her in the arcane arts; she has little experience with them despite her natural talent. Luckily Synesi is a patient and gentle teacher.
