Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Its skin is smooth and doesn’t seem to have any color to it.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

This hatchling stands at the entrance to the Village of Streamfell, a small human settlement built over many small, beautiful streams falling over a myriad of cliffs. The village is built under the thick canopy of an ancient temperate forest, and he's often found chasing dust motes in the rays of sunlight.

He's very excited about his job as an Announcer and will eagerly tell visitors all about his village; sometimes he'll even repeat this information to those that already live there. He's very playful, and new arrivals will often find him playing around with other hatchlings beneath the Streamfell gates, before he quickly turns and rushes to greet the new stranger. He's fed by the villagers and during the Winter- when there are reasonably much fewer people visiting the village- he is welcomed into the main hall and swarmed with soft blankets.
