Arcana Dragons are a rarely-encountered breed of dragon known for both their magical abilities, and their quirky, hardworking nature. These dragons have specialized organs for storing mana, and can produce varying effects from these reserves simply through instinct. However, they are also very intelligent dragons, and when raised around mages, or others of their own kind, almost invariably become obsessed with the study of magic. Arcanae are diligent in their efforts to discover as many uses for magic as possible, and while they will openly treat others to the fruits of their labor—especially others who share their interests—they will also use their knowledge and abilities to trick any creature that thinks it can take advantage of them.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Once, Somethingly bumped into Fleurieler, the owner of Nworset Theatre, after a show let out and complimented him on his choice of programming, with an offhand comment about how only dragons could make anything worth watching. Fleurieler asked him about the comedic skit that had proceeded the feature, which Somethingly said he thoroughly enjoyed, so Fleurieler pointed out that the skit had been written by Hershey of Carmen and the Ducks.

At first, Somethingly was in denial. But there was no confusion that the skit had originated from the chocolate-coloured duck, so he decided it had to be a fluke, and looked at more Carmen and the Ducks material to prove his theory. This backfired, and by the next time he chanced upon Fleurieler, he told the little sweetling he had decided poultry must be a kind of dragon. Fleurieler introduced Somethingly to the best of dino literature. Somethingly now chats with customers about all kinds of literature as he works as a magical fixture installer.
