Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It chirps and croons at you in gentle melodies.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Starsinging Off-key has a long ways to go before she achieves the musicality her kind is known for. Her "songs" more closely resemble the soundscape of a seragama fighting a hooktalon than they do any recognisable Christmas carol. According to the other starsingers, her growth stopped along with her musical ability, and should she begin to develop her musical talent, her physical maturation should continue. As it stands, however, she seems more interested in other things, and if anything, her vocalisations are getting harsher, and her body is growing younger. Some of her friends worry that she could un-fledge any day now, and try in vain to encourage her to practice singing good, not just singing loud.
