Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

A Siyat demands to be called A Siyat rather than his actual name, due to his childish sense of humor. When anyone says something about him while using his name, they will sound like they are speaking about the siyat breed as a whole. "A Siyat likes blowing dandelion seeds", "Go find A Siyat and tell him it's time for school", "A Siyat is practicing an Ice technique", and so on. He thinks he's very clever by forcing people to say his name this way, and while the adults don't think much about this, his older peers are annoyed by this and hope he develops out of this unfunny habit. Some look at his green belly and declare he probably won't ever.
