Sunbeam Drakes are the diurnal counterparts to Moonglow Drakes, their eggs having been laid during the daylight hours. They are around the size of a small dog, and while docile, can be flighty and easily startled. Most can be found high in treetops enjoying the bright sunlight, tucking themselves away at the first sign of a storm or impending nightfall. Sunbeam Drakes enjoy flying in the light of the sun, and their treetop dances are beautiful, dazzling, and serene.

Though it may appear at first that dragons and drakes have much in common, the two are completely separate species. Drakes are smaller and less intelligent than their cousin species, though both dragons and drakes sit comfortably near the top of the food chain. They are always found bearing antlers and leathery wings. Drakes share many of the same habitats that dragons do, and typically hunt in packs.

User Description

Kealohi is a young Day Glory Drake. Like his father, Sunny Tides, he practically lives at the beach in Drakeville. He is an expert surfer, and loves competing in surfing contests, especially the "Surfer of the Year" award, an annual surfing competition to see who can perform the most tricks, who can ride a wave the longest, etc. He always tries to beat his rival, Water Gazer, every year, and usually it ends in a tie. Even though the prize for winning the contest is the same for anyone who even showed up (just a cheap ribbon), he takes it very seriously. He also competes with Water Gazer over other stupid things, like ice-skating contests in the winter, or who has the biggest leaf pile in the fall. But deep down, they're friends.
