Gold dragons are the ones most often killed by humans, who consider their scales to be extremely valuable. These golden scales grant them a high level of protection, similar to armor, and they use this to their advantage in battle.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

PERMANENT LOSS is normally a quiet dragon, though when she talks, she always shouts. It's as if she's incapable of making her brain and mouth whisper, and even she cannot say how she got that way. Probably a forgotten curse. She is not at all self-conscious about this odd trait, though it's a bit annoying when someone who's heard the yells tries to go after her for her scales or tender meat or revenge. She happens to wake up very early, so she is an excellent alarm call for everybody else. PERMANENT LOSS's best friend is a patch of mint, planted in a dirt-filled gap on the "roof" of Delta Tango 5's communal cave. She hopes to one day replace the mint with a delicious real mint.
