Coastal Waverunners spend most of their time skimming the waves along the coast, snatching up their prey from the shallow waters. They have developed markings along the leading edges of their body that help disguise them as breaking waves. When they are not hunting, they enjoy playing among sand-dunes and shallow tide-pools. These dragons live in small but noisy rookeries. Some stories say Waverunners can fly for days on end without landing.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Tiffany suffers from a rough case of younger brother syndrome. He is lost in the shadow of his older brother, Thor, who is an accomplished and infamous Storm-Rider. Being as attention-starved as he is, Tiffany will desperately seek out ways to impress his family. These stunts can range from generally absurd to critically dangerous, and he has wound up in the clinic for these performances more times than he cares to remember. Tiffany seems to lack any sense of fear or inhibition. He will do whatever stupid thing enters his mind in a heartbeat without any regrets, even if it goes horribly wrong. Regardless, it's clear he loves and admires Thor, even if he does feel pinned under him a lot. They have a strong, brotherly bond, and, even when Tiffany falls, Thor will be there to pick him back up. They will often indulge each other with fake dogfights, soaring high into the air to perform feats of aerial combat. As with all things, they both usually end up getting beat up by the end.
