Swallowtail Dragons are graceful and quick flyers, much like their namesake bird. They are capable of precise aerial acrobatics, and can reach very high altitudes. Because of this, humans observing these dragons are often astonished at how large they are when confronted up close. A Swallowtail’s diet consists of insects and small mammals plentiful in temperate forests. These dragons are also made remarkable by their paper-thin wing membranes, which allow light to pass through, creating an astonishing effect on starry nights.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Pretty Dove is a strong-willed Swallowtail who lives in a group of male and female Swallowtails. Her lineage makes many of the other dragons jealous of her, and the groups guard had let her in easily without a word of negativity. She didn't accept any mates for a long time, rejecting many advances with polite words. She was viewed as a possible matriarch leader, but she doesn't exactly tell any dragon what to do; Dove believes in free will and only suggests things that the group do.

One day, a quiet male Swallowtail tried to join the group. The guard didn't want to let him, but Dove was able to stop the insults and brought the shy male into the group. Their friendship blossomed into love and a relationship, and Dove was happy with her new mate. This male never kept any secrets from her and enjoyed telling her everything he knew.

Pretty Dove knows that the reject dragons outside of the group are a problem. She hates how the guard keeps them from joining, but there is nothing she do.
