Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Leo Virtus is named quite accordingly. Roughly translated it means 'Lion Courage' in the romance language of Latin. Leo is brave as it gets, standing his ground to even the most powerful of enemies, and directly attacking the face of foes ten times larger then himself. But those are normal brave acts for dragons. Leo is also a hatchling who will try and break up adult female dragon's arguments, Now THAT'S a brave act. And if you think that that's not a big deal, then you haven't been within three miles of a female dragon's argument. Leo is easy to make out from his breed not only for his personality, but also for his right frill. When he was younger, Leo had been trapped in a fire. And in the haste to escape his frill snagged on a burning branch and tore. He lived of course, but since then that's been his key feature.
