Lumina Dragons received their names from their highly reflective scales, which—at times—seem to glow. They are vain, always strutting about and preening incessantly; if one of their scales has so much as a scratch or a defect, they’ll remove it. Luckily, their scales grow back quickly, and each new growth is more beautiful than the last. These narcissistic dragons live in small groups and prefer to surround themselves with beauty. The females guard their territory and eggs while the males search for vegetation to eat.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Lanax is a creature of the night, which is unusual for a lumina dragon with gleaming scales that only can be shown off to their full extent in the sunlight, which, combined with her extreme vanity, makes it surprising to all those who observe her. But Lanax has an intelligence that manifests as sheer cunning, and she knows that she can never hope to impress in the daylight, with competition from all around with dragons in it who have spent many hours a day preening themselves to perfection. But at night, the moon's glow radiating off her scales makes Lanax stand out to all those who roam the night, allowing her to be the sole object of their attention and admiration. Lanax constantly finds herself been stared at from across the room, or told how lovely she looks tonight, and she adores the way they lavish praise on her. She refuses to leave the cave during the night though, as she knows even the beauty of her scales will fade in comparison with the gorgeous night sky.
