Siyat Dragons are extremely smart and have an excellent memory. They are very quick and will often dive through the air making chirps and calls for attention if they feel ignored. Siyat dragons are herbivores and need to eat a lot to make up for all the energy they use with their excitable nature. Groups of Siyat Dragons have a hierarchical structure based on the color of their markings. It is thought that the social status of a dragon is determined by its incubation period—in addition to having different coloration, dragons allowed more time to develop are considered wiser and of higher status.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Freeload accidentally talks about topics that irk others. If everyone in the Motley Mountain community save for one tri-horn wyvern is fine with (or at least doesn't get fed up with) chit-chat about the weather, he'll talk about the weather to no one except the tri-horn. No one tells him their disliked topics—he just happens to innocently bring something up to a listener who really doesn't want to listen to it. If, however, someone does tell Freeload, "I don't like to discuss diet fads," he'll avoid talking about diet fads to them. Many dragons suspect that he, as a siyat, knows more than he lets on and is pushing their buttons while feigning innocence. Some have tried to hint to him that they're suspicious, but he either can't take a hint, or, again, he's pretending he can't.
