Stone Dragons have a tough outer covering made of a stone-like material. They eat rocks, using the minerals they contain for nourishment and to keep up their stone outer shell. They rarely move, and are the heaviest of all types of dragons. Although they have wings, indicating flight ability, no one has ever seen a stone dragon flying.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Shulpae was born in a far-off land between two rivers. He's always loved stones (which isn't much of a surprise, considering that he eats them). When he was a hatchling, Shulpae heard endless talk about a dragon named Belit-ili who could work stone as if it were made of clay. His mother and her friends were always talking about her great deeds. Tailtiu (his mom) even collected sculptures made by her, to decorate the cave. Shulpae also admired her work. When he grew up, he bid his parents good-bye and went off to meet Belit-ili. After many days of travel he finally met the one who he had heard about since birth. She was nothing like he had imagined. They hit it off well. She invited him to stay in her cave for a few days, and he's been there ever since. They are now Mates. He rarely leaves her Workshop, and is often mistaken for one of her statues.
