Dorsal Dragons are so named because they have large fins along their backs that can be raised and lowered at will. They use these fins to regulate body temperature; they raise them to cool off when they become overheated. The bright colors on the fins double as a means of attracting mates.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Dragons, who don't have the same attitude as humans, don't have to wear clothes. But On the Town does. She commissioned a friend knowledgeable in tailoring to create this odd looking set of garments. It comprises black slacks, a black coat that's missing its arms, a white shirt with stiff cloth around the neckline, and a long piece of red fabric tied around the neck. Miraculously, it all fits her. The other dragons don't deny that the colors match her hide and fins, but it all looks very peculiar. On the Town is considered an eccentric for sometimes wearing, even just having, these clothes. No one can really make an enemy of her because she responds affably and politely to their questions and mockery.
