Neotropical Dragons are a breed that originate in rainforests. They are fun-loving and enjoy lounging on tree branches, eating whatever fruit they find. They are also often found sunning themselves on rocks, using their large wings to soak up the rays. In the summer, males compete for mates by showing off their striped wings and gliding in spirals down the tree trunks. It is said that the larger the wings, the more likely the male will attract a suitable mate.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Adael's deep love for her mate, Pefrio, crosses the borders of their different clans easily, as she would easily die for him, and knows that he would do the same for her. At least at the moment. Adael knows that Orha, a female vampire with similar origins to both of them, loves him too, and she can't help but wonder if he returns the feelings, even if he is not aware of it yet. Pefrio and her met via their shared heritage, both coming from the same cave before being picked up by the clans, and she knows that there is no way a weak dragon like her would ever partner someone as handsome as Pefrio was it not for their history. Deep down she believes that Orha, also coming from their birth-cave, who is beautiful and talented, would make a far better mate for him then she ever could. Adael only got the prize because she was there first, and she knows that she will never be able to understand the thirst for biting eggs, nor the undead life they both live.
