Dorsal Dragons are so named because they have large fins along their backs that can be raised and lowered at will. They use these fins to regulate body temperature; they raise them to cool off when they become overheated. The bright colors on the fins double as a means of attracting mates.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

After seeing his parents murdered, Spruce swore revenge on criminals across the region, though he doesn't stoop so low as to take lives. Unless it's food, of course. Hey, a guy's gotta eat. He has no magic skill and relies entirely on his wits, athleticism, and gadgets of his own invention to get himself out of dangerous situations. Most dragons know him as that airhead rich dude, and he happily perpetuates the gossip as he performs as a caped crusader beneath suspicion. Only a handful of individuals know both identities. Early on, one of them asked if he had a catchy code name for the crime-fighting side, since he couldn't be known as Mister Dwayne. He pondered and brought up that he's good at combat. "So... a man good at combat. Combat-Man." His butler thought that was an incredibly stupid name and made him think of something else, but had no other ideas. His catchphrase, "I am violent retribution; I am the darkness between sunset and sunrise; I AM COMBAT-MAN!" isn't much better.
