Gold dragons are the ones most often killed by humans, who consider their scales to be extremely valuable. These golden scales grant them a high level of protection, similar to armor, and they use this to their advantage in battle.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Raegestan is usually considered by the other dragons to be a sweet-tempered and considerate soul, but he has a terrible weakness that can send him into a frenzy. He has an extraordinary love for watermelons and the merest hint, sniff or mention of the fruit will cause Raegestan to go on the rampage screaming at the top of his lungs for them. Any dragon or human that does not get out of the way when they see him stampeding towards them will be very badly trampled as he refuses to let anyone or anything get between him and his watermelons.

Should the watermelons turn out to be a joke or a result of misinformation, it takes a small hit squad of magically talented dragons to knock him out.
