Gold dragons are the ones most often killed by humans, who consider their scales to be extremely valuable. These golden scales grant them a high level of protection, similar to armor, and they use this to their advantage in battle.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Jinana is one of the dragons that help the clan leader Whyte to conduct his affairs. Despite being much younger then several of his other assistants, Jinana is very wise and has proved to be a valuable member of the family.

Her main task is to visit human settlements on Whyte's behalf to speak with their leaders and discuss treaties between the two species. Jinana supports her leader's wish for harmony between the peoples and will go to any length to help him realise it.

As a gold dragon, her scales are valuable and therefore her presence amongst humans is a constant test to their sincerity and own contribution towards peace.
