Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Nyghtmare is a large and frightening male black dragon. It was obvious from the start that he was different from the other black dragons because of his sheer size and muscle mass. Despite his fearsome appearance, this dragon is not without his sensitive side. He is mated to the glorious gold Matriarch of the cave, and is the father of two gorgeous gold dragons. Oddly enough, he takes interest in the young of the cave and enjoys teaching them strategies in their play fights that will evolve into real maneuvers as they age and learn. His prowess in battle is unmatched, and the scars of many long forgotten skirmishes only add to his nightmarish appearance.
