Striped Dragons come in a dazzling array of colors complemented by an intricate pattern of stripes. These bright colors and patterns help attract their favorite food, insects. Because their prey is so tiny, striped dragons must spend a large portion of their day eating. The color of the offspring is usually determined by the dragon’s mate.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Hassifa loves going on jungle walks with his ridgewing wife, Byyy, when she visits. She's far from comfortable among the dense vegetation and dislikes bumping her large wings against every branch and bush. The diminutive Hassifa so greatly appreciates his friend's willingness to tolerate the wet environment for his sake that he does everything he can to make her happy, like learn to read and write and make candied trail mix for her. The two walk more-or-less side-by-side, Hassifa holding his mouth open during the entirety of their conversation, and Byyy trotting awkwardly and trying her darndest to enjoy the experience. By the time they reach the jungle's edge, both are covered in bugs. Byyy doesn't think much of the creatures and gets flustered when Hassifa climbs all over her to lick them off.
