Vampire Dragons are members of the undead. They sustain themselves by drinking the blood of others. It is said that they are only “alive” at night, and seem dead or asleep during the day, as they cannot endure sunlight for long periods of time. Vampire Dragons can only reproduce by changing the eggs of other dragons, puncturing the shell with their fangs and injecting venom that kills the baby inside.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

A rare sort of the Legion, Sidonus refuses to associate with his fellow Vampires, instead remaining with his home colony of Waverunners. His name is mud to other Legion dragons, the name of traitors and those who will sell their brothers and sisters to death.

When his egg was changed, his colony did not throw it to the waves, nor did they smash it to pieces. They mourned the sad state of affairs, but allowed him to hatch and live among them, the bravest even offering some of their own blood to keep their brother alive. Despite this, they still feared him, some even hated him. Sidonus knew this and one night, left to seek others of his kind.

He found them in the Legion, and for many years, traveled with them, taking over towns and colonies that did not provide proper tribute. He disliked it, but went along with it, until the day they wound up at the rookery of his birth.

Rather than attack, he warned the Waverunners, even aiding them in fighting off the Vampires.
