Considered heralds of ill fortune, Omen Wyrms are usually found in areas previously ravaged by disaster or strife, blending in amongst the foliage. Due to the unique appearance and texture of their bodies, they often pass as dead trees as they wait for unsuspecting prey. Their haunting cry—like that of a hollow-sounding horn—is a sure signal to run: it is always followed by the dragons’ furious wrath, which manifests in the form of fiery cascades. Escape from an Omen Wyrm is possible, however; it is said they will not dare follow their quarry across running water, no matter the cause of their vexation.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Cocoa Meat Hose is the retired First Assistant to the Director Principale of District C. He was only an assistant for two months until the Director Principale and his consort strongly, strongly suggested retirement, after which he was succeeded by the Second First Assistant. The official reasoning is that he saw better prospects on the horizon, but he knows his old boss was always unhappy that an underling had more bodily fire and wanted him out. It was very much like that legend about the powerful ruler whose mirror told her that there are people prettier than she, and her solution was to kill them so she would be the prettiest again. Fortunately, Cocoa Meat Hose is not that killable, so he simply agreed to retire. He decided he liked slithering around freely without having to obey anybody or follow a bunch of rules, so after the retirement party, he grabbed the banner with his name and the leftover punch and departed from District C, never to be seen there again.
