Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Ridiculous Baron Black is the younger son of R'Prince Nysa Black. Baron feels put-out that his father abdicated in favor of his sister, that he's ranked as only a baron despite being the new Queen's sibling, and that he was given a muddle-lineaged female as a mate. He's peeved that he never rose higher in the ranks of the guard, despite the fact that he quit in a huff when his father abdicated to keep Captaincy. Baron had counted on being named Captain in his father's stead.

He had no real talent, having always coasted on his royal lineage, and he wasn't lucky enough to make a love-match. He decided to pursue a life of adventure, selling himself as a spy to the other Royal Clans. He even failed at that, finding that all the other Royal PBs honor the Black Clan as the oldest and strongest lineage. Luckily, the Royal Dorkfaces pay for information, having no other form of entertainment. He's just waiting for those goofy dragons to turn on him. Poor Baron is just a miserable little guy.
