Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It’s very bright in the sunlight.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Preteen was sickly and prone to colds and long-lasting injuries as a very young hatchling, owing to his mother's carelessness and the state of their homeland, Lanling, a few years ago. Other dragons would also keep curiously poking, squeezing, and manhandling him since his breed was a very rare sight in Lanling. He's getting better every day now, and he can almost keep up with other youngsters in physical play, and he's catching up on education with two volunteer tutors. He would like to join a Scymrian clan when he's grown and thinks he can be a good note-taker or records keeper for them, since he likes to write things down as they are occurring, and those are two jobs that don't take a lot of strength or stamina.
