Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Silver Gremlin is a male Tinsel dragon who has chosen a rather eccentric profession. He studies the bloodlines and family histories of other dragons. Gremlin expressed interest in discovering a family history when he was a young hatchling. The history in question was his own. Gremlin researched and tracked down the dragons in his lineage, noticing the incredible variety of ancestors which he had. Finding out about the history of his family was a struggle in places, but it was a challenge which Gremlin enjoyed. It may have the feeling of accomplishment that Gremlin felt when he had discovered who his ancestors were that prompted him to take on this activity professionally.

Silver Gremlin learned much during adulthood. He read about genealogy, as it was called, and deciphered the bloodlines of dragons who came to him out of curiosity, skepticism or even fear. Gremlin gradually developed a reputation and dragons now offer him food or treasure in return for researching their ancestry.
