Serrati Wyverns are a fierce breed of dragon typically found in volcanic areas or in desert scrubland. With their keen vision, these fearsome predators can pick out well-camouflauged prey from the slightest movement. They are named for the double rows of serrated teeth that line their beaks, which allow these wyverns to maintain an unbreakable grip on prey while they tear into their target with deadly hooked claws. Though these dragons are combative with nearly everything, they are surprisingly well-mannered when raising their offspring in communal nests. Males, however, tend to be chased off as soon as eggs are laid.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Promissory was raised by her father and spent much of her childhood sitting on his back as he wandered about. Other riders had doubts that this fierce little brown and white fuzzball was really his child until spiked scales resembling his developed along her shoulders and back. She left "home" once she learned to fly, a skill that took a few more years than the average serrati wyvern because the tough scales she inherited from her old man helped with defense but made flight very difficult. For many years, Promissory could not find a partner whenever mating season rolled around. The guys didn't want to meet her, much less fight for her, so she finally decided to widen her prospect of finding a mate by visiting different regions looking for other breeds. So far, no one was in favor of courting her the Serrati Way, and most were appalled with the idea of fighting to the death just for a mate. Promissory is beginning to think she should just find some more hobbies.
