Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It is very aggressive, and has brilliant turquoise markings all over its body.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Gruber does not live in a house. He was born in a pit and still lives in a pit. It's a very nice pit though -- from above, it looks like a stylized flame, and the walls are lined with green and yellow glass. A few pieces of curling furniture sit along the panels, including a bookshelf stuffed with books his parents have collected. He's very happy living in his pit.
