Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Dasoong was the first tinsel to join one of the traveling weyrs. Though similar in general appearance to the rest of the crew, he acted quite differently. His movements were stiff and slightly mechanical, he had a strange manner of speech and trouble with idioms, and he never showed much emotion. As Starwander Weyr explores new lands, Dasoong has been involved in his own personal journey of discovery. He seeks to become more like other dragons, but along the way has become accepted for who and what he is, despite interference from parents, mysterious phenomena, and a malevolent brother.
