Magi Dragons are, as their name suggests, primarily magic users. They rarely use physical forms of attack. They eat anything they can kill, which is almost everything. They won’t kill unprovoked except when hunting, although they may kill humans if in danger. Their strong magic makes them one of the most feared breeds of dragons.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Arien, one of the four founders of the Durelen Clan, is a dragon with a tragic past. When she was just a hatchling, her parents were captured by humans from the nearby town. Terrified of the strange, unfamiliar creatures, the young dragon fled the scene and wandered the wilderness for weeks, living off whatever she managed to catch. Eventually, she was discovered by a friendly Skywing, who took pity on the poor, exhausted youngster and offered her a place by her side, which Arien reluctantly accepted. Moody and distant, she had a hard time fitting in, but with time and support she managed to face her demons and grow into a caring, beautiful young dragon. She even caught the eye of the leading pair's firstborn, Balar, who became her mate. Deep down, she never stopped feeling guilty over her actions and she tries to make up for it by being one of the clan's fiercest protectors, using her formidable magic skills to defeat any who would threaten her adopted family.
