Skywing Dragons spend most of their lives flying in the air. They hunt from the air, diving at prey from above, and land only to rest. They are some of the fastest fliers, capable of extremely high speeds. The webbing at the end of the tail acts as a rudder, allowing them to easily change direction during flight.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Zeph is part of the Clan of Skye. He is easilly hypnotized by falling snow, and spends ceaseless hours staring at it, to the exclusion of sleep. Even in harsh blizzards, when his clanmates find shelter among the peaks of their home, Zeph flies among the Zephyrus winds and arctic cold. After some of the harshest storms, Zeph was found with severe frostbite, yet he still hasn't learned his lesson. Ganica was once the most active in trying to get him to stop his behavior, but stopped cold when Zeph made and stuck by a final deal: that he would give up his incitement-weather flights if she would stop her own unsafe habit: rising into the aurora lights. However, Zeph has not been working on a spell to protect himself as Ganica does herself.
