Antarean Dragons are peaceful creatures shrouded in mystery. They are primarily found in the desert where they get most of their energy from sunbathing. Their most notable traits are their highly reflective manes and the mysterious light emitted by their scales which fades from bright, nearly blinding yellow-white into dim red as the dragons get older. Legend claims that they are otherworldly beings that came to this world when a meteor struck.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Though a desert territory has since been founded within Yese's clan, she still prefers to live in her familiar forested homeland. She lives with her mate U'alid'es, a like-minded Antarean, in their den within a glass keep atop a hill. Yese herself is particularly interested in the arts of architecture and has designed for her family a rather splendid fort of glass, designed to reflect the sun's rays so that the solar-powered creatures can survive more efficiently in this unfamiliar temperate climate. During the winter, she likes to fly south with her mate to the Desert March over the sea, where they enjoy visiting the other Antareans but don't intend on staying. Yese in particular is very chatty, but spends most of her time either sleeping, talking, or fixing something around her home.
