Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Night Dancer of the Black Ice (Blackice) is a quiet young female dragon. In her herd of birth, she made no friends and she sat alone, quietly in her den. She was outcast of her herd of birth and the young, wingless hatchling set off on her own. Blackice lacked the skill and stamina for hunting, but she sustained herself on tea leaves and grain. One day, the young hatchling decided to rest underneath an oak tree, she was nearing the end of her days when a spunky black dragon found her and brought her back to her  bigger sister's herd. Blackice became Rakorta's unofficial apprentice and she learned how to be a dragon. Now she is Black Wings of the Dreaded Night's mate and the mother of his children.
