Shallow Water Dragons are found in tropical regions where the water is warm. They use their magic to hunt, using bubbles to capture small fish and animals. Their large, webbed feet make them excellent swimmers and they are able to move at very high speeds. Due to their bright color, these dragons are easily spotted in the lagoons where they live.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Kmakarap once lived in a bustling city among many other dragons. She was one of the more popular females while growing up, and many males fought over her. One day, though, she saw a pained yulebuck being violently bullied by some of the ones that were vying for her. She later saw the yulebuck again, writhing in pain even though he was alone. She began trying to help him, and her popularity was replaced with disgust almost instantly.

Kmakarap saw that remaining in the city would be dangerous for her and the yule, whom she had discovered was named Yuilais, so they traveled to a cavern they alone could safely call their own. It lies in the desert, isolated by a territory thought to contain a devil that turns creatures into glass.
