Script Dragons are named for the markings along their wings and sides that look almost like calligraphy. The patterns correspond to no known language, and are slightly different on every dragon. These dragons only develop the characteristic markings when they reach maturity, and they are fairly capable with magic once the patterns appear.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Ycau is duller in hue than the average script, and she's dull in personality. She doesn't like talking about herself, but when she's pushed to, she describes activities such as watching a beetle crawl from the west wall to the east wall of her cave, or lining up her 25 jewels in 5x5 squares in every possible configuration, or staring at the high-traffic abandoned area with no specific goal, or getting into arguments with strangers about who would win absurd hypothetical fights. A handful of humans visiting the area believe Ycau is actually hiding arcane, highly interesting facts and stuff of a magical nature under a guise of dullness. She tries to avoid those kinds of people.
