Vampire Dragons are members of the undead. They sustain themselves by drinking the blood of others. It is said that they are only “alive” at night, and seem dead or asleep during the day, as they cannot endure sunlight for long periods of time. Vampire Dragons can only reproduce by changing the eggs of other dragons, puncturing the shell with their fangs and injecting venom that kills the baby inside.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Vadnivaric considers herself the foster child of Drasphenine, the vampire that turned her, and Etherleid, Drasphenine's "mate". Like her "mother" Etherleid, she enjoys guarding the borders of Filari's territory, albeit she must do so at night. During the day, she hides in Filari's caves, babysitting the younglings with Ilyarnis and Liviren. Most of the hatchlings are terrified of her sharp fangs, though, and tend to flee upon seeing her.

Another characteristic of Vadni is that she hates naggy adult dragons with a passion. Those that are of Filari and whine too much are often subject to an angry "SHUT UP PLEASE!" from her. If they don't shut up, the vampire dragoness often tries to attack them. Because of this, Vadnivaric is hated the most out of all of the other dragons by Divine, since she (Divine) is often the target of her vicious yelling and attacks.
