Thunder Dragons are the masters of electricity. Their wings gather energy as they soar through the clouds, and when they clap their wings together they can create devastating arcs of lightning. They can stay airborne nearly indefinitely, landing only to sleep and breed; they catch their prey from the air and take moisture from the clouds. A thunder dragon’s roar is considered to be an omen of misfortune.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Kami-Naru is a thunder dragon. However, she missed Thunder School the day they did lightning strikes. Consequently she is an appallingly bad shot, and when she claps her wings, the fallout could be almost anywhere. But the roar that follows is stupendous—just as well; it is indeed an omen of ill fortune, and serves as an excellent warning to anyone in the line of fire of her next missed shot.

She hopes to breed soon, but the others in her cave are wary, in case she claps her wings in a moment of ecstasy and does them some serious damage. So, given Flaming Evil's record, the other females are working on a bit of matchmaking—as he would, they think, be no great loss to the cave if there were an accident, and could do Kami-Naru no damage.
