Gold dragons are the ones most often killed by humans, who consider their scales to be extremely valuable. These golden scales grant them a high level of protection, similar to armor, and they use this to their advantage in battle.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

"Albert Spangler" is one of this dragon's many aliases. He has a rather forgettable face and is adept at conning humans and other dragons: he approaches them while they are busy doing or thinking about something else and innocently bugs them for a while. His victims later notice that something belonging to them is missing, but they just can't seem to pick out the guy from other gold dragons. They'll remember the dragon who swiped from them has a giant wart or a lopsided walk but can't recall any other feature. There is a dangerously clever patrician (actually more of a benevolent tyrant) after him for his wits—he's certain that the fraudster's tact and skills in negotiation will make him a good civil servant to said patrician.
