Originating from a single species that thrived in ancient times, Xenowyrms have become an incredibly diverse breed whose appearances vary depending on their habitats. Each Xenowyrm subspecies is heavily reliant on the power of different types of mana, making them powerful magic users. Chronos are often considered to be the most elusive of all Xenowyrm subspecies: they live in the darkest and densest forests, far from civilization. They are masters of time magic, allowing them to manipulate the flow of time at will. It is said that Chrono lairs are protected by a field of magic that makes the minutes tick by at a slow pace for any unwanted visitors.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Since he knows there will be time to create a face to meet the faces that he'll meet, this dragon hasn't gotten around to making himself one yet. He lives in town, occasionally helping his parents with maintaining the clock tower while he dabbles in different directions but never really settling on what he wants to do for a living. So far nothing has really taken his fancy.

Faces is a friend of J. Allfred Prufrock and occasionally joins him on his walks at dusk. At other times, he appears among the multitudes of Sherinas's friends, or asking other dragons about various crafts and trades to see if they sound interesting. Some days he thinks he wants to learn alchemy with Tabld or magic with Sherrias, other days he considers learning smithing from Infacras or cooking from Khaira. Despite his frequent questioning, nobody really remembers him—he just blends in among the faceless masses.
