Pyrovar Dragons live at high altitudes in areas with lots of volcanic activity. They are commonly associated with geysers and hot springs and enjoy soaking in the scalding water. Females bury their eggs in these areas warmed by geothermal energy and abandon them soon after. As a result, these dragons are territorial and solitary from a young age. Despite their affinity with water they have powerful flame breath and fire magic. They are entirely carnivorous and utilize a variety of hunting styles, from chasing down prey from the air to lying in wait beneath the water’s surface to ambush any unwitting creatures that wander by.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

User Description

Straphanger's "parents" were packing for a trip and found this little yellow hatchling with one of their empty shoulderholders, teeth clamped to the leather strap. When "Mom" held the container aloft, the hatchling stubbornly hung to it and hung in the air. She was adopted by "Mom" and "Dad" out of a goodhearted but mistaken assumption that she was abandoned, famished, and in need of care and that her mean disposition could be rectified. They were only partially wrong about the last part. Straphanger is still peevish and combative in a way that would be considered a failure of parenting for many other breeds. Pyrovars, however, think she's weirdly mellow and unsuitable partner material. She's never thought of her "parents" as parents, more like unexpected sidekicks who gave her resources and also ordered her around, but even after leaving them as an adult, she sometimes visits them and brings presents, and if anyone harmed them or tried to, she would defend them ferociously.
