Soulstone Dragons are deeply empathic creatures. The pearls which they carry with them from a very young age are deeply attuned to the emotions of those around them, glowing in accordance with the strength and sincerity of the bonds individuals share with one another. Soulstone dragons have the ability to show that, even in the heat of a vicious feud, the love that friends, family, and partners share for one another remains true and strong.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. A bright light often shines from deep within Equiphillus's horseradish patch, leading to constant speculation about what goes on in there. Some believe that she is simply in love with the plants themselves, while others are sure that she has a partner that she never talks about in public. Some even claim that the light isn't from Equiphillus's pearl at all, but some other sort of magic, possibly cast by someone else who is using her as cover for their own dubious practices—the hypotheses for who and what are as varied as the elements themselves. When asked, Equiphillus just smiles and says, "Wouldn't you like to know." Some take this to mean she loves a good mystery. One thing everyone agrees on is that Equiphillus knows more than she is letting on.
