Scimitar-wing Wyverns are a small breed, eating mainly birds and small vertebrates; as such, they lack the large teeth and heavy claws of their larger cousins. They are far from defenseless, however, and are named for the blade-like growth that forms over the first digit of their wings. The wyverns use these blades to defend themselves from any attacker. Their blades are quite strong and can cut through almost any scale or hide.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Teigen is the creator of an Abrahatathing, a device made of twigs and resin with a heavy container rhythmically hopping on a bed of rinds. Once a guest puts an item into the Abrahatathing, Teigen "turns it on", and it begins to jitter. The various parts make odd noises and movements for a while, and once the teal smoke clears, the device pours out... the same item the guest put in. However, it's supposedly imbued with Abrahatathingy good-luck magic, which only works sometimes. Some people feel that the device really works; others pretend it doesn't exist. The imbued object also smells like oranges and cinnamon for some reason, so a few dragons don't care about the "magic" bit at all and pay Teigen so their belongings can smell nice. He and the Abrahatathing can always be found in his cave, except when they can't: if people have a beef with the contraption or with Teigen, especially if they wish to harm either, the cave is seemingly abandoned, with only a lingering smell of citrus.
