Dorsal Dragons are so named because they have large fins along their backs that can be raised and lowered at will. They use these fins to regulate body temperature; they raise them to cool off when they become overheated. The bright colors on the fins double as a means of attracting mates.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Cartload is the community's go-to equipment caddy. She's able to carry items on her back in a stack or pile, sometimes three or four times her height, and walk with everything without collapsing under their weight or dropping anything. Everyone is certain she isn't capable of magic, but her immense strength and extraordinary balance must be some kind of magic. As long as she's paid well enough, Cartload will go anywhere with any person or traveling party to transport their stuff. Outside her jobs, she is daring and enjoys trying new activities. Her snooping and more questionable actions often get her in trouble, and she can make up for it by providing her equipment caddy services when called.
